Home and School are our children's
two most important worlds. Here at TLC we want our children to feel
safe and secure. We want to bridge home and school by connecting
them in a positive and respectful way. We want to build a genuine
partnership between staff and families, bringing them closer together
and forming a good means of communication.
We have based our curriculum
around the creative curriculum for preschools, which is sponsored
by NAEYC (the National Association of the Education of Young Children).
Our goal is to become an NAEYC accredited program upon eligibility
(programs must be in operation for one year prior to applying for
accreditation). Our teacher's role in the classrooms will be continuously
observing the children, guiding their learning and assessing their
progress. We have an enthusiastic staff that will motivate and support
the children in a variety of ways. We want our children to have
a hands on approach to learning and understanding the world around
them. By using developmentally appropriate practice, our staff will
guide the children through days of fun and learning, while gaining
social competence and a good sense of self.
Infants:
We provide a safe, positive environment where babies can explore
and learn. The goal of these rooms is to develop trust and nurturing
bonds with the infants. Schedules in the infant rooms will work
around the individual child. They will be able to grow, learn, and
explore at their own pace.
Toddlers:
In these rooms the main focus will be on maintaining those nurturing
bonds brought from the infant room. The staff will be consistent,
loving, and nurturing while interacting with the children. They
will provide age appropriate activities that help to develop their
social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language skills. The
children will be provided a safe environment to explore and experience
different activities, toys, and learning experiences.
Pre-K:
We believe children learn best by doing. We base our curriculum
on the children's interest, experiences and developmental needs.
Using developmentally appropriate practice and the individual needs
of the children, they will be able to learn, grow, explore, and
create in their own style and at their own pace. Our goal is for
our children to have meaningful long lasting learning. Our staff
will provide consistent daily routines; child-initiated teacher-directed
learning that will help the children become problem solvers with
good social competence.
After school:
After school children will have time to work on homework with help
from staff if needed. We also have a room where they can relax,
play games, look at books, etc. They will be provided with an after
school snack as well as an outside time.
